Carmelo Ezpeleta, the boss of Dorna Sports, has never hidden it; he would ultimately like the six MotoGP manufacturers to each field four motorcycles, two official and two satellites.

At Honda, Yamaha and Ducati, there is no problem, since this is already the case at least currently.

For more recent arrivals, Aprilia, Suzuki and Ktm, it will take a little more time, especially since it is not/anymore necessarily in the genes of the company, like Suzuki which has never done it in the MotoGP category.

However, Davide Brivio had really tried to work on it this season, by insisting with Hamamatsu to have two satellite motorcycles next year, which would also have allowed him to honor his contract with John Zarco by placing it with LCR. Joint refusals of Japan and Lucio Cecchinello, the latter having preferred to remain loyal to Honda…

However, the team manager of the Ecstar Suzuki team is not giving up and is even considering a possible possibility in 2018.

Davide Brivio: “This is one of our goals. We would like to have more bikes on the grid, but it is not easy for Suzuki because we have never had the experience of satellite teams. Our resources are now entirely dedicated to the factory team in MotoGP, and it is very difficult to organize to have more bikes on the grid.
We need more people, more staff, we need to organize ourselves. We hope to be able to work through 2017 and have something in 2018, if that's possible. This is one of the objectives, but I cannot say now that we will be able to achieve this objective. »

Comments reported by Motorsport which reeks of Norman's answer, but which in any case generates the following question: “What would the riders who signed for two years in a team who changed bikes during this period say? »
