Andrea Dovizioso therefore decided to put himself on the drivers' market on a Saturday afternoon in Styria by announcing that he was leaving Ducati. This would be a great catch for the competition, but alas, there is no more room to take. At KTM, we have already declared that not only was there no opportunity, but that we had already discussed the subject before deciding on Danilo Petrucci. So there remains Aprilia. Aleix Espargaró decided to take the date on his own. We will recall that he did the same as soon as Honda indicated that it would do without the services of Cal Crutchlow in 2021…
At Aprilia, everyone contributes to the RS-GP project, even going beyond their remit. Aleix Espargaró demonstrates this, by making it its mission to recruit the smallest pilot who finds themselves on the market. The Spanish pilot recognizes the value of Dovi, who since 2017 has been the runner-up of Marc Marquez in the championship. Dovi's great experience would be of great help to the MotoGP project ofAprilia. This could allow Maison Noale to make a significant qualitative leap.
That being said, it would probably not be easy for Dovizioso to accept the move to a team which has certainly not shone in the upper class of the World Championship in recent years. He will want specific guarantees to accept a possible contract for 2021, which could change the recruiter's life Aleix Espargaro...
