The Italian brand has always made the public dream with its noise, its performances and the charm of yesteryear. But is the turning point near?

“The future is electric and we are not far from starting series production. » That's what Claudio Domenicali, Managing Director of Ducati, declared on the sidelines of the celebration of the podium won by Moto Student, one of the training initiatives that the Bologna brand has been promoting for years in collaboration with the University of Bologna and local administrations.

The “Moto Student” project is part of the “Unibo Motorsport” program. The Racing Team of the University of Bologna has produced a prototype of a competition electric motorcycle, entirely designed and built by a group of engineering students from the university supported by the Ducati Foundation and monitored by technicians from the Italian manufacturer. The bike made its track debut at the Spanish Aragon circuit (October 2018) and scored a podium on its first outing, with the best result during acceleration tests: 0-100 km/h in 3″85 .

Thanks to this project, the students were able to put into practice, by working and operating as in a real competition team, the concepts learned at school while giving free rein to their imagination. They were also able to benefit from extremely innovative technologies such as the structural components made for the carbon fiber chassis or the power electronics and the electric propulsion control system.
