The Kazakhstan Grand Prix will be the great curiosity of this 2023 MotoGP calendar with 21 meetings but 42 races, bonuses not included for the moment. If the other new destination, India, is understood by the protagonists and the builders as a journey that makes sense, due to the immense market represented by this continent-sized country, it is good less obvious for Kazakhstan. But Dorna made a presentation intended to seduce us, even if we understood that this stage is mainly intended not to leave the media space empty of MotoGP for five weeks in summer.

An imperative that Carmelo Ezpeleta himself underlined and which had to return to a Finland, which is now one of those countries which has a brand new ghost circuit whose tests take place in court. THE Kazakhstan was the only candidate for succession, but with the assurance of an existing route and the means to receive the plateau. It is called “the Land of the Great Steppe”, which exudes a scent of adventure and romance. We hope that the stands will not be swept away by the winds, but Dorna assures us that not, having identified fans who will enjoy themselves.

The steppe country is the last of the Asian states to join the MotoGP calendar

And this will only be the beginning, because the championship visit will aim to “ instill a passion for speed within the Kazakh nation ". On the international route of Sokol the party will be crazier, since it is reported that the ancient capital of Almaty, located only 76 kilometers from the route, is “ a cultural center that offers lively nightlife, thus promising to be a popular destination for riders, teams and fans ". But there will also be varied and picturesque landscapes, vast steppes, large lakes and imposing mountains, not to mention resorts on the Caspian and Aral seas to enjoy.

Otherwise, the venue stands as an engineering masterpiece, designed by the renowned Hermann Tilke, who also designed numerous tracks on the MotoGP and Formula 1 calendars. Construction began in 2014 and the result " years of hard work » is a 4,5 km long circuit with 12 turns, including 8 right and 4 left.

Le Kazakhstan will be the 30th different country visited by the world championship established in 1949 and the Sokol circuit the 74th stride in its history. Looking forward to this ninth round of the 2023 campaign expected for the July 7 to discover what Central Asia can offer motorcycling.
