Seeing Andrea Dovizioso in the Grand Prix this year is increasingly a fiction. This would require a request from Honda which seems far from certain if we listen to the comments coming from HRC. The Romagnian of 34 years old has entered what he calls a sabbatical year which he does not want to consider as pre-retirement. He assures him, he is waiting for a project that is worth living while the rumor of his return is still fueled by the procrastination of a factory Honda who waits to understand when and how the injured Marc Marquez can return to the track.

Dovizioso: “I’m not just trying to race MotoGP” 

Dovi's options are limited, to say the least, but they are so playable that he recalled them in an interview with Sky Sports : " I'm open, but for now I'm not looking for a place to come back to at all costs. I'm only interested in projects of a certain type, so if there is a chance to return to MotoGP in 2021 or 2022, I will be the first happy to talk about it, otherwise there is no problem ».

He adds, as a message sent to Honda, who should not call him for nothing: “ it depends on what they offer, it's not a simple call. There must be a project, a desire to try together. If there is to be an idea like this, maybe for 2022, I will be the first to be happy. I'm used to doing things right, so if there is an intention and desire on both sides, we can talk about it. Like I said, I'm not just trying to race MotoGP, otherwise I could have done it another way ».

Dovizioso ends by closing the door to the test pilot's station, thus showing that he remains firm in his intentions: " I didn't feel ready to just be a tester yet. By this I don't mean that test pilot is an unimportant job, but I still feel like a pilot. At this particular moment, I feel like a…motocross rider ". It will be recalled that after leaving Ducati, Dovizioso said no to Aprilia, discarded the role of tester for Yamaha , and therefore sets conditions for Honda …He also said no to Suzuki, but that was in 2015.
