What about Andrea Dovizioso? He entered 2021 on a sabbatical, which means he no longer has any obligations and is free with all his time. And yet, according to very informed observers, he trains hard as if he were preparing for a season. Could there be something fishy?

Andrea Dovizioso according to those close to him and even his manager did not physically let down his guard. He even trains as hard as before. A revelation made by the one who rides with him off-road, in this case Lorenzo Baldassarri. The latter, speaking of his preparation and his prospects, let go of GP One : " regarding Dovizioso, I say that nothing is certain yet. At the moment we are preparing for the season together and I must say that he is training a lot ". The Italian ends with his compatriot: “ if he didn't race in MotoGP, I would lose a friend in the paddock and MotoGP would lose a strong rider ».

Is it the only passion for motocross that pushes Dovi not to relax? The one who is aware of the subject still remains his manager Simone Battistella who assures this: “ Andrea Dovizioso wants to drive ". A strong message, but to whom? At this stage, we can only think of Honda who observes the always sensitive situation of his champion Marc Marquez.

Honda last commented on December 13 on the health of his six-time MotoGP champion. The almost 28-year-old Spaniard was coming out of the third operation on his right arm on December 3. His brother Alex Marquez last spoke in an interview about a three-month recovery time, which could be doubled if complications arise.

“There are no discussions” says Dovizioso manager

It is currently difficult to know whether Marc Marquez will actually be at the start of the season opening scheduled for March 28. This is why rumors continue to circulate that Andrea Dovizioso would come into play as a replacement driver.

« There are no discussions “, however declared the manager of Dovizioso in an interview with GPOne. “ Andrea trains because he also takes the history of motocross very seriously. That's why he trains every day ". As if to calm the situation, he adds: “ yes, I spoke to a few people from HRC recently, but we were just exchanging New Year wishes ».

Battistella precise : " Andrea is in good shape. I know he wants to drive, but not for individual on-demand races. We never really talked about such a situation. I don't know the real situation of Marc Marquez either ". One thing is clear: Dovi has no contractual obligations until further notice. He therefore has plenty of time to think and decide, even if it seems that he is already a little tickled by the idea of coming back for a taste of competition...

Dovizioso has chosen to no longer be a starting driver, but he is still preparing as one...
