In the Grand Prix family we have the elite with MotoGP, the antechamber with Moto2 and the great training center incubator of talents that is Moto3. The first mentioned has six factories on its starting grid, the second only offers the possibility of innovation in terms of chassis since the engine is standard of Honda origin while Moto3 has three brands: Honda, KTM and Mahindra. But also maybe Ducati tomorrow.

An officially stated interest since he is the sports director of the Borgo Panigale coat of arms, Paolo Ciabbati, which draws the perspective on crash.net : " Moto3 is something interesting. It's not exactly a plan for us, but it's an opportunity we're thinking about ". However, for the moment, the idea is only making its way: “ we won't be there next year because the decisions have been made for 2017. But if things go well in MotoGP, we could consider a Moto3 machine ».

What this machine would be is still a mystery. If the project was complete, Ducati would launch a 250cc single-cylinder four-stroke, a new engine. But the kind of mechanism that emerging countries with very popular markets are crazy about. The motivation, however, would come from elsewhere: “ many current MotoGP riders come from Moto2 and quite a few of them have had success in Moto3 ". Would Ducati instead think about supporting a team that would be responsible for detecting the talents of tomorrow? To have : " we have quite a few private teams which provide an opportunity for drivers to become more experienced without having the pressure of a factory driver ».

This applies to Pramac, Avintia and Aspar, but these three names are also potentially the future armed arms of Suzuki, KTM and Aprilia which have the obligation, in the long term, to field private motorcycles. So what about Ducati in Moto3? A mystery still, but a recognized interest.
