It's like a sea serpent that appears from time to time against the backdrop of Arles. Between Ducati and Moto3, these are the well-understood interests of a sector to be set up and a small engine market to be occupied to establish its presence in emerging markets. But it all remains a project. Ducati is obviously not KTM, who manages to mark with his presence the three categories in Grand Prix.

On the other hand, the track record and level of the Mattighofen brand are not those displayed by the Borgo Panigale factory. However, since 2015, the general manager of Ducati Corse Gigi Dall'Igna has this Moto3 in mind. It must be said that the man comes from Aprilia, from a time when Noale's two-stroke engines revealed the champions of tomorrow and reaped victories and titles.

But Ducati has priorities as recalled by its sporting director Paolo ciabatti on Speedweek: “ we have other imperatives and MotoGP is our top priority. We also need to develop the V4 for the Superbike. Nevertheless, the idea of Moto3 persists, even if no concrete plans have been made. We have not hired any technician on this and no one at Ducati is involved in this type of approach. We just keep that in mind. As soon as we have the resources and capabilities, we will take a closer look. But it's not current ».

We will remember that since the departures of FTR, MZ, Emir-Ioda, Kalex-KTM, Husqvarna, Mahindra and Peugeot, only KTM and Honda are present in the championship.
