27 years after Rossi's eleventh win in the 1997 125cc season, David Alonso has equalled the nine-time Moto3 world champion's record. At Phillip Island, the Colombian won for the eleventh time in 2024 in a race with an unpredictable scenario, once again showing his dominance in the smallest of classes. To celebrate this achievement, Alonso covered his head with a blue bandage identical to the one that covered the Doctor's when he won 27 years ago. David Alonso will have three opportunities to write his name in the record books by taking a twelfth victory, in Thailand, Malaysia or Valencia.
