Viñales Aleix Espargaró

Things are already becoming clearer for the new adventure between Viñales and Aprilia which will definitely not wait until 2022 to begin. It will probably not be for Silverstone next weekend. Which would be too early and ultimately falls badly in a schedule that is being put in place and which should keep the Spaniard busy with the Italian firm until the end of the season...

Maverick Vinales is at a turning point in his career given the way his period Yamaha has ended and in view of the motorcycle that he will find. Indeed, his mood in the face of this new challenge will be scrutinized, as will his involvement which will be challenged to adapt, for the first time, to a V4 engine. Until then, it had only known in-line four-cylinder engines.

In addition to this, the RS-GP, as promising as it is, has a recognized deficit in acceleration and grip, to be fully up to the competition. We will therefore have to work hard on the 2022 version. Precisely, the Spaniard will be able to do laps until exhaustion. It will be recalled that the Noale manufacturer still benefits from concession points in the regulations…

A situation which allows him to do tests as many times as he wants and which offers him the opportunity of six wild cards. Equipped with these elements, GP One made this calendar: the first private test of Maverick with its RS-GP is expected for August 31 and September 1 on the chosen circuit will be Misano. Two days during which the Catalan pilot will have the opportunity to practice his skills.

Viñales and Aprilia can finish the season

This first test Misano will be the starting signal for an ambitious test program which will also allow Aprilia to deploy up to a maximum of six wildcards with Maverick in the next seven meetings that the MotoGP calendar has ahead of it.

Maverick Vinales could therefore participate in all the remaining races until Valencia if he decides to skip the Silverstone event which will take place in just seven days and for which he does not have time to prepare.

On paper, six weekends of competition and several days of private testing spread across Europe could be the pre-season of which Maverick Vinales needs to reach the first Losail race in 2022 with a real chance of being with the best, if Aprilia does its share of work on the RS-GP.
