The fourth round of this season of the MotoGP championship has passed and, for the fourth time, rookie Augusto Fernandez finished in the points at a Grand Prix. This is the Sunday race, the one that counts for history and big points, the Sprint building its own legend every Saturday over half the distance. A consistency which is welcomed by his GASGAS Tech3 team which had not experienced such success with its two beginners last year, when it wore the KTM orange color, on an identical RC16. Enough to make happy the person who took over the role of manager of the French team for this 2023 vintage, Nicolas Goyon.

On his performance in Jerez, the reigning Moto2 World Champion commented from his thirteenth place: “ my pace was competitive, I was in a group with potential which allowed us to take a big step, so I'm happy. I don't think we were that far from the top, it's promising. I now have four MotoGP weekends under my belt, so we know what we need to work on. It's very motivating to see how well the KTM riders are working, so I just want to focus on the package that I have, because it's a good one and it's working, so I just have to focus on that- above ».

Nicolas Goyon commented : " it's yet another good result for our rookie Augusto Fernandez who completed his fourth MotoGP race (out of four) in the points. It is therefore an achievement that we must highlight. He finished less than twenty seconds behind the winner in Jerez. The 2022 rookie of the year had a similar performance here last year, so even if Augusto is the only rookie this season, it is still very encouraging. He is solid, consistent and rolls with his head, so the whole team is very happy with him ». We will recall that the best beginner last year was a certain Marco Bezzecchi on a Ducati.

Nicolas Goyon: “ the team is happy with him, we are satisfied with the work accomplished »

The tricolor opens: “ we are very optimistic for the future because the KTM guys, Brad Binder and Jack Miller, had an exceptional weekend here in Jerez. Congratulations to them ". Work also continued on Monday during an important test day because… “ This is the perfect opportunity, especially for a beginner, to check some settings on the bike and the riding style, and this is what Augusto Fernandez focused on, without the stress of the race weekend. He had aero fairings to try, provided by Pierer Mobility Group just for him ».

A busy and successful day since “Augusto improved his time compared to Saturday's qualifying, so we are happy with the work accomplished ". See you now at Le Mans next weekend. The regularity ofAugusto Fernandez allows him to rank sixteenth in the championship MotoGP with 17 points.
