Yamaha

The Yamaha factory team recently conducted a three-day private MotoGP test in Valencia with Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins. However, the tests were marked by unfavorable weather conditions, impacting the planned development program.

After the rainy Mugello tests, Yamaha faced interruptions again in Valencia. The difficult weather conditions began on Monday evening with showers which persisted until Wednesday. The Yamaha team director, Massimo “Maio” Meregalli, had planned an exhaustive testing program, but rain disrupted those plans. Quarterly et Kidneys struggled to keep the bike stable on the tight and demanding circuit of the Ricardo Tormo circuit.

fabio quartararo, the leader of the team, did not hide his frustration with these conditions: “ the conditions were rather bad. But we were at least able to carry out part of our work planned for Wednesday. » The 2021 world champion added: “ we will soon do tests again to improve the sensations. We won't give up! »

The next Grand Prix at Assen remains historically favorable terrain for Yamaha

Constant precipitation made it difficult to use the slicks optimally, and drivers had to adapt to the changing conditions. Lap times were not reported, leaving practice performance largely unknown.

The next meeting for the MotoGP World Championship is scheduled after the break, from June 28 to 30, in Assen for the Dutch TT. This circuit is special for Quarterly, who achieved a third place in the sprint there last year, his best result since the new format was introduced in 2023. However, the main race was marred by a crash at the Omega corner, also resulting in Aleix Espargaró and preventing Quarterly to finish the race.

Yamaha hopes for more favorable conditions during the next tests to continue their development and regain their competitiveness on the grid MotoGP.
