Brad Binder

We knew that Brad Binder was a formidable attacker but we discovered this Sunday at Le Mans that he also had nerves of steel. The KTM rider thus went through all the states in a race that was, to say the least, eventful and which would have cracked up more than one person. But the South African held on. After a good start, he was knocked off the line by Alex Marquez and found himself at the very end of the peloton. Methodically, he climbed the way he had the secret before running into his teammate Jack Miller. His overtaking was not done according to the rules of the art, so he was penalized with a long lap. But Brad Binder is stubborn and he is back in the leading group again…

All this to finish sixth, with this question: but where would he have been at the finish without all these adventures? The clue is to be found by running Sprint on Saturday where he finished second. At the arrival, Brad Binder kept his carnivorous smile, even specifying that he did not want Alex Marquez. A pilot like we don't see anymore!

On his race at Le Mans, he comments: “ I had a very good feeling for the race and I had a fantastic start, but unfortunately I was hit on the side by someone at turn 4 and I fell from 6th place to 18th or 20th place. I don't know who it was ". We have since known the culprit: Alex Marquez who will have to answer for this maneuver at Mugello by giving up three places on the starting grid for the Italian Grand Prix. How reacted Brad Binder upon hearing this news? “ I'm sorry about Alex, because unfortunately some things can go wrong in the departure phase. It was just a bit of a shame for me that it dropped me from fifth or sixth to 20th place ».

Brad Binder: “ it's normal that they impose a sanction on you »

He pursues : " this incident made my run a lot harder, then it got a lot trickier. But I'm happy with how I handled those situations. The only annoying thing was that I missed the attack on Jack in the chicane. But that's life ". A failed initiative which resulted in the long lap penalty… But again, no annoyance: “ I missed my braking point a bit, so I drove straight into the chicane. I failed, It's normal that they impose a sanction on you ».

« It was a huge challenge to cross the peloton towards the front. But I did it, I caught a lot of guys and I gained a lot of positions » he adds. “ Considering all the things that went wrong in this race, then 6th place is a perfect result! Now we take a three week break and we will continue to Mugello ". A real joy this Brad Binder.
