Johann zarco

Johann Zarco did not leave empty-handed from his French Grand Prix at the end of which he had the joy of celebrating a podium in front of his 117 compatriots counted only this Sunday, while the score is a record of 000. The Pramac driver brought home points from the Sprint race and then those more important from third place in the 278.805th Grand Prix in history. A good weekend overall which puts him back in the top 1000 of the general classification.

At the microphone of Canal+, Johann zarco summed up his Sunday at Le Mans: “ it was good, it's really cool. I was close to the podium the whole race but I had a little slack and with 5 laps to go I was trying to catch my breath a little to make a little push again and be closer to Marc and Jorge. Unfortunately in the fight, Jorge put this pressure on, Marc wanted to turn quickly and he lost the front for good… And that made a guaranteed podium ».

He adds : " I stayed close to have an opportunity but he gave me a little push at the end. It was warmer compared to yesterday. I was off to a good start but there Alex Marquez who came back very hard and it was better to avoid him. I felt like it wasn't going to do it and so I moved away. He pushed Brad Binder and then we had to do everything again. When someone arrives a little in distress you have to tell yourself that the race is long and therefore it would be a shame to fall straight away ". It should be noted on this point that this is not the first time thatAlex Marquez tries to ward off his adversaries this season like Moses the waters. The Gresini driver is carving out a bad reputation in the peloton which seems to escape any vigilance from the Commissioners.

Johann Zarco: “ the podium is always good but it’s true that in France it’s better »

Johann zarco continues: " when I wanted to overtake Miller very quickly to try to stay with the group I made a mistake and moved away at the chicane. I lost some time and then managed to gain some rhythm, and I was happy to have recovered a little from Marquez and Martin. It was very intense, the pace was good and this podium is a great reward. I saw Bagnaia fall, I avoided Alex Marquez when Marini fell, it was pretty hot, but we say to ourselves “well come on, that’s a few eliminated that’s some places to win”… But we have to maintain the pace because behind it was strong in front too ».

« It's quite unique to have the whole audience almost to yourself, like a bit on parade this morning and all weekend and making this podium is exceptional. So there you have it, the podium is always good but it’s true that in France it’s better ».

He finishes : " with regularity, the top 5 is largely playable in the championship. But being consistent at the top level is very intense. I'm happy to have recovered a little from the 0 in Jerez 2 weeks ago because there were a few points in the trace sprint and therefore good points in the big race and It's been a busy weekend. We will now recover during the 3 weeks and get back into real good shape to then continue the triplet at the end of the first half of the season ».
