Savadori France

Seeing his very convincing performance in the rain, we had our eye on Lorenzo Savadori who seemed to be playing with the elements with his Aprilia. When the downpour arrived for Q1, we watched him carefully, then let go after he crashed on his first attempt. But he returned to the track the guy, for two laps which opened the doors to Q2, despite one of the two being canceled due to a yellow flag. The day of glory had arrived...

Lorenzo Savadori made his way through a Q1 chaotic by signing the best time, to the great displeasure of his teammate Alex Espargaro who was, in fact, the first eliminated to enter Q2. A session that the Italian honored with his eleventh place, which will therefore be his starting position for this French Grand Prix…which could take place in the rain.

« To be honest, I don't like these conditions. But these conditions somehow bring me closer to the style of superbikes » tells frankly Savadori. " There is also a lot of movement in the chassis », explains the pilot of 28 years, including commitment toAprilia as Espargaró's teammate was questioned by many observers before the start of the season.

« At the moment I'm still working on finding confidence in this bike. It's completely different from a superbike, much stiffer. You need more stability to be fast. Aprilia helped me a lot in my work, I would like to thank them. But I still need time to gain confidence » adds the Italian who had the fiery confidence Fausto Gresini.

Savadori is a pure product of the Superbike school

« I took a completely different route to the guys here in the MotoGP World Championship. I have never ridden a 600 or Moto2 machine. I have always sat on 1000 series motorcycles and derivatives of the series. These machines can only be driven with a lot of movement in the chassis ».

Savadori was also asked about his sprint into the pits after his slide in Q1, in which he even had to cross the start straight. “ It was a bit stressful and exhausting, I wanted to close the visor so as not to show it, but then it occurred to me that it was clear “, he joked. “ I immediately grabbed the second bike.” He finishes : “I regained my feelings little by little. I want to be in front as much as I can. I also had to constantly adjust my riding style a little. It won't be a given until I'm where I want to be. Could I have made my MotoGP debut earlier? Now I don't want to think about the past, I try to look ahead and give it my all. I don't feel old and I hope to stay in this category for a few years."
