Marc Marquez closed the qualifications for the Grand Prix of France, the fifth round of the 2021 World Championship, with the sixth best time. The Spaniard was very fast during the qualifying session, remaining in first position for several minutes. In the end, however, he took the checkered flag a lap before the others and was unable to improve. No. 93 himself admits he couldn't have done much better given his physical condition, but an extra lap would certainly have helped...

« This morning in the wet, I felt more “normal”, because it is less demanding from a physical point of view » says the eight-time World Champion. “ I was riding well in FP4 and also in qualifying, but the conditions weren't perfect and the grip was low, which meant slower lap times. When that's the case, I drive better, but when you really have to push to the limit, that's when it's more difficult with my physical condition ".
