Mir France

For the moment, it is not with this edition of the French Grand Prix that Joan Mir will be reconciled with Le Mans on his Suzuki. This Saturday's day ended with a modest 14th place on the starting grid, which means that the reigning World Champion did not even manage to get out of Q1. He is placed just in front of his teammate Alex Rins, which means that the team had the luxury of a collective sinking during qualifying…

Joan mir is obviously disappointed with his performance during the qualifications of the Grand Prix of France. But when it came time to take stock, rather than letting go, he opted for cold anger: “ it's always a problem when you're in 14th place on the grid. Otherwise, I'm in 10th place on the grid, so there's not much difference » he says… Then he explains: “ In the last two laps of Q1 the track dried out very quickly and I was on the outside with the soft wet tires. I think I overheated the tires a bit and so I didn't have the right grip. It's a shame and an experience for the future. Because today I had the speed to be ranked much better. But that's how racing works sometimes ».

alex rins suffered the same fate, the same causes producing the same effects. He comments: “ we have not chosen the best strategy. It's difficult in these conditions. We started with medium front tires and soft rear tires. I had talked to my team leader Manu Cazeaux about making a pit stop, but on the bike I was more focused on going faster than thinking about which tire to put on.. If we had had the medium rear tire we would definitely be in a better position. But that's how it is now. We must turn to racing ».

Mir is optimistic for the race, in the dry or in the rain

Precisely, this race, how Joan mir does she see her? “ I had the pace in FP4, in FP3 I was pretty good even in wet conditions. In qualifying, I was also not bad in the wet. We have a good package in the wet and in the dry, not the best, but I think we can fight with this package. I'm not worried about the weather either because I'm sure we'll be there either way ».

« The key will be to pass as many drivers as possible in the first two to three laps to put myself in a good position. I know it will be very difficult to fight for the podium tomorrow, but I will do my best and give 100% ". A racing strategy that Joan Mir knows very well and lives it almost at every Grand Prix...
