France

It is France which this time welcomes the Grand Prix paddock with a MotoGP championship which has been led since the meeting in Spain by the native of the country and reigning World Champion Fabio Quartararo. His compatriot Johann Zarco is also in the leading pack and the two men will be keen to please a fellow public who should be all the more present as good weather is forecast in Sarthe this weekend...

Furthermore, the Bugatti Circuit in Le Mans is a track that suits the Yamaha M1. Jorge Lorenzo is the most successful rider on the site with six victories, including five times in the “queen class” with Yamaha. Marc Márquez et Tom Luthi follow in second place with four victories each. The Swiss won twice in 125cc and Moto2.

Jack Miller et Danilo Petrucci have won on Ducati for the last four years, and previously the Honda factory rider Marc Márquez dominated twice. Yamaha's last success in France dates back to 2017, with Maverick Vinales.

In the Moto2 category, Celestine Vietti leads the championship after six of 21 races. The Italian is 19 points ahead of Ai Ogura, who took his first Grand Prix victory at Jerez. Last year, Raul Fernandez (Red Bull KTM Ajo) celebrated his second victory of the season at Le Mans. In the Moto3 category the fight for the world championship is led by the GASGAS rider Sergio Garcia who extended his lead in the rankings over Dennis Foggia (Honda) 21 points since the Spanish Grand Prix. In third place is Izan Guevara, Garcia's teammate. Guevara won his first race of the season at Jerez. Garcia won the French Moto3 Grand Prix last year.
