After several difficult seasons with Yamaha, Franco Morbidelli joined Prima Pramac Racing this year, hoping to rediscover the form that took him to a brilliant second place in 2020 with satellite team Petronas SRT.
However, his start to the season was compromised by an injury during training in January, slowing his progress. Nevertheless, Morbidely is gradually approaching the top positions, a crucial step while its future remains uncertain.
The situation of Pramac Racing, which plans to move from Ducati to Yamaha, adds an extra layer of complexity. Morbidely, in an interview with MotoSprint, clearly expressed his wish to stay on a Ducati Desmosedici GP:
« My goal is to stay on a Ducati, to try to win races. The dream would be to create another opportunity to win the championship, but at the moment it seems very far away. I have to get back on the podium first."
Franco Morbidelli is convinced that, under the right conditions, he will be able to fight for the title again: “ I am convinced that with stability and good knowledge of the motorcycle, it is possible to get closer to this dream."
Franco Morbidelli does not want to reconnect with a Yamaha
The quest for stability and performance is essential for Morbidely, especially after his recent challenges. The decision to Pramac regarding their future partnership with Ducati ou Yamaha could greatly influence his career. If Pramac opts for Yamaha, it could mean a new start for Morbidely, with different challenges and opportunities.
However, Morbidely seems determined to prove his worth on the Ducati. His recent performances show steady improvement, and he remains focused on his goal of returning to the top. His willingness to fight for the top positions and re-establish himself as a serious contender for the championship shows a determination that could well mark a turning point in his career.
With the uncertainty surrounding the decision to Pramac, the fate of Morbidely in MotoGP remains up in the air, but one thing is certain: he has not given up on his dream of becoming a title contender again.
