For FP1 of the eleventh of its 22 rounds, the world championship MotoGP returns to Germany and the modern version of the Sachsenring circuit for the 27th time, the latter being one of six circuits on the current calendar that are run in an anti-clockwise direction, along with Aragon, Austin, the brand new Balaton Park, Phillip Island and Valencia.
After his triple success in Aragon, Mugello and Assen,
Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) extended its lead to 68 points over its brother
Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) a faithful second, the two men being also still the only two riders to have scored points in all the Sprints.
Over the years, Marc Marquez has made the Sachsenring his kingdom. It's truly his favorite hunting ground, because with 8 consecutive MotoGP™ victories between 2013 and 2021, the last of which marked his return to the top after injury, there's a reason he's the overwhelming favorite this weekend!
Because unfortunately " Mister P2" , ifbeing hurt in sa kick à Assen, had to pass un exam medical Thursday in order to meet patients' participate, while are podium de year latest is are The best result en Germany.
Francis Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) is now 126 points behind his teammate, having increased his deficit at Mugello and Assen, despite having won the last three editions. The Turin native is also the most recent winner at the Sachsenring, but will that be enough to prove the saying "three is a thing" wrong?
Behind the three leaders, the two drivers of the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team, franc Morbidely et Fabio Di Giannantonio come together in a handkerchief, despite the polar opposite characters of the two men.
Already threatened by Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) before the Netherlands, Johann zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR) continues to face a difficult patch after his performances at Le Mans and Silverstone, and loses a place in the general classification to the Italian.
Worse, he is now within firing range of a Peter Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) which seems to have found its long teeth again...
With only 3 points scored, the Dutch weekend was not great for Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP), but on the other hand he only loses 3 points on a fabio quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) still seeking to realize its pure speed. This nevertheless allows Maverick Vinales (Red Bull KTM Tech3) to slip between the two riders, effectively dropping the Frenchman to 11th position, as he arrives on the circuit of Yamaha's last victory, in 2022.
On the injured side, with the return to the track of Luca marini (Honda HRC Castrol), alone George Martin (Aprilia Racing) is still replaced by Lorenzo Savadori, while his return was made official next week in Brno. Great news!
Conversely, Enea Bastianini (Red Bull KTM Tech3), suffering from an attack of appendicitis, will not be replaced, just like Somkiat Chantra (Idemitsu Honda LCR).
That's a quick overview of the situation. To write this eleventh chapter of the 2025 MotoGP season, the 15-meter track will have to be covered 3671 times during Saturday's Sprint and 30 laps completed on Sunday.
To tackle the difficult German round and its very atypical route generating unique demands, the teams of Michelin Motorsport have concocted an almost tailor-made allocation .
"Along with Phillip Island in Australia, I consider the Sachsenring to be one of the two most difficult circuits of the season for tires." says Piero Taramasso, manager of Michelin Motorsport's two-wheel competition. "Besides the fact that the drivers take it in an anti-clockwise direction, it is above all the configuration of the track which represents a challenge. Between the Turns 4 and 10, the Grand Prix bikes turn only to the left, which means that the right side of the tire loses temperature before attacking Turn 11, which turns sharply to the right and is downhill! This is a particularly delicate point, where only tires designed for this exercise can meet the required level of performance. We have good knowledge of the area, which allowed us to provide a relevant technical response to this type of situation, because it is precisely at this moment that the riders have a great need for confidence. As we do three times during the season, the front tires will be asymmetrical, with a reinforced rubber compound on the left side to compensate for the higher number of turns on this side. Conversely, the right side of the tire will have a softer rubber compound, capable of heating up quickly and maintaining stable performance over time. This consistency, and this "à la carte" rubber between the left and right sides, is the signature of Michelin Motorsport, which has always had the ability to provide our partners with the best tires in all circumstances."
Conversely, the circuit does not offer no particular difficulties for Brembo, which ranks it 3 on an index ranging from 1 to 6.
Among the current full-time MotoGP riders, the winners of previous editions are: Marc Marquez (8 wins: 2013 to 2019 and 2021), fabio quartararo (2022) George Martin (2023) et Francesco Bagnaia (2024)..

For the eleventh round of a season that has 22 rounds, we will have to count on gloomy weather...
While waiting to discover more, as the 20 drivers prepare under a partly cloudy sky with fairly cool temperatures of 18° in the air and 27° on the ground for this first 45-minute free practice session, let's take advantage of these few moments of live coverage thanks to the official website MotoGP.com :
