The first day of the German Grand Prix MotoGP which takes place this weekend on the Sachsenring circuit, took place with very cool temperatures for the season, which caused many falls but did not prevent Maverick Vinales (Aprilia Racing) to rewrite the record books of the German track, placing its Aprilia in the lead with a significant gap of 0.340s ahead George Martin (Prima Pramac Racing), winner of the 2023 edition, and a Miguel Oliveira (Trackhouse Racing) reinvigorated who was able to benefit from the qualities of his RS6GP when grip is low.

The first part of the afternoon Practice was eventful, with Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) who crashed in the first moments, losing the front in the fast turn 11, driver ok. Marc Marquez  (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) then suffered a violent highside in the Waterfall 52 minutes from the end of the session, his second crash of the day, with the Gresini rider returning first to the truck rather than to the medical center . Later (we think he was called to order...), No. 93 underwent a test after having shortened his session and was declared fit, having achieved the spectacular feat of taking the top of the standings in just 6 laps completed (problems on his bike #1). This demonstration of strength was not enough, and the Gresini driver, bruised on the ribs and suffering from a small fracture of the index finger, will have to go through Q1

Shortly after, new emotion, this time in turn 1. Fabio DiGiannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) crashed and damaged the Airfence, which raised the red flag. The VR46 pilot headed directly to the medical center. But #49 even restarted and managed to improve his lap later.

Takaaki Nakagami (IDEMITSU Honda LCR), Joan mir (Repsol Honda Team), Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3), Augusto Fernandez (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3), Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team), Remy Gardner (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) and John Zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR) also fell in this very lively session where Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™), which showed strong pace throughout the one-hour practice session, with more than 30 laps completed, finished in 4th place, allowing it to confirm its position among the top three on Friday at Assen and honor his new two-year contract.

The champion in title Francis Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team), for its part, skipped the second run of the morning but finished "a quiet day at the office", taking P5 just in front of his teammate Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team).

Finally Maverick Vinales, Jorge Martin, Miguel Oliveira, Alex Márquez, Francesco Bagnaia, Enea Bastianini, Franco Morbidelli, Pedro Acosta, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Brad Binder are directly qualified for Q2. The other drivers will have to go through Q1.

Here are the last 5 minutes of the Practice:

While waiting to discover more, at the moment when the 22 pilots (with Stefan bradl wildcard for Honda and Remy gardner to replace Alex Rins, but without Aleix Espargaro package following his fractured hand) are preparing for this 2-minute FP30, with a much sunnier sky than the day before, wind still blowing a little at their backs in the straight and temperatures 25° higher in the air and 31° on the ground, let's enjoy these few live moments thanks to the official website MotoGP.com :

Here is the table which summarizes the facts known so far.

When the red lights go out... Alex Marquez is the first to set off but, contrary to usual, he is not accompanied by his brother Marc, whose state of health is being questioned. fabio quartararo, for his part, preserves the tradition by taking the track last, this time with Marc Marquez.

Everyone is equipped with soft tires at the rear, except Takaaki Nakagami which uses a medium. At the front, all three options are used…

After just one round, Marc Márquez returns to his box and already gives instructions to his mechanics, while at the end of the first flying lap, it is Raul Fernandez who registered the first reference in 1'21.504, then improved to 1'20.961 ahead Maverick Vinales, before passing the baton to the latter in 1'20.758.

In his fifth flying lap, George Martin takes command in 1'20.720 before returning to his box.

At the end of this first run, the hierarchy is made up of Jorge Martin, Maverick Vinales, Miguel Oliveira, Raul Fernandez, Francesco Bagnaia, Enea Bastianini, Franco Morbidelli, Fabio Quartararo, Pedro Acosta, Alex Márquez, Marc Márquez, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Augusto Fernandez, Luca Marini, Jack Miller, Takaaki Nakagami, Marco Bezzecchi, Brad Binder, Johann Zarco, Joan Mir, Stefan Bradl and Remy Gardner.

This is the moment when Marc Márquez, slightly behind, seems to have resolved its problems and jumped to 11th then provisional 4th place…

For the moment, the first three are held within 53/1000 of a second, the temperature has already risen to 26° in the air and 33° on the track, and qualifying will therefore take place in completely different conditions from Friday: Who will be able to make the most of it during the qualifications which will follow this session?

At the restart, nine minutes from the checkered flag, Miguel Oliveira increases the pace and displays 1'20.353, which allows him to take command, more than 3/10 faster than George Martin.

Maverick Vinales then makes a minor mistake in turn #1 while Francesco Bagnaia moves up a notch in the rankings.

The session thus ends without any other notable event as tension rises with the immediate approach of qualifying...
