MotoGP Germany J3, Enea Bastianini (Ducati/4): “I should start higher to win, because it’s impossible if I continue like this”

As usual, Enea Bastianini was forced to come back during the German Grand Prix at the Sachenring. On Saturday, he claimed he could beat Jorge Martin if he got a good start, and in fact, this was the case, but not in the way he hoped. Without response to the storm Marc Marquez, he took a well-deserved fourth place, but which further confirms the fact that he is a notch below his teammate, Martin and the eight-time world champion celebrated as a rockstar in the closed park. “Bestia” is aware of his weaknesses, and wants to improve.

The days have been strangely similar for Enea Bastianini lately. He starts from afar then comes back strong, a bit like Johann Zarco in recent years. « The goal of the day was the podium. Once again, the pace was good but I would have to start from higher to win, because It's impossible if I continue like this » affirmed the Italian in the columns of GP One. He pursues : « Every GP I lose five or six points and that's a problem. We will have to remedy this in the second half of the season because there are still a lot of points to distribute and anything can happen” he asserted.

 

 

This qualification problem is starting to drag on, and it has to stop. « With new tires I can't tell the difference like other Ducatis. I don't feel that extra grip that others have. We changed the base to have a better bike in the race, but maybe we lost in a time trial » he admitted, which corroborates his comments on Saturday.

 

 

On the other hand, it pushes him to create, to find openings, which is rather pleasant for a pilot. « I liked the two overtakes in the last corner, one on Marc, and the other on Morbidelli. The fight with Franco was nice but it wasted my time. » he continued.
