This year's World Ducati Week (WDW) at Misano was particularly significant for the Pramac team, led by Gino Borsoi, as marking their last participation before their unexpected transition to Yamaha. The signing of Marc Marquez with the Ducati factory, to the detriment of Jorge Martin, precipitated this change. Nevertheless, Martin remains in the race for the championship and could take the number 1 plate at Aprilia. Davide Tardozzi, Ducati team manager, however, reaffirmed Ducati's commitment to their contracts and their continued support for Pramac until the end of the season.
Gino Borsoi, commenting from Misano, recognized the end of an era at Pramac with Ducati, while emphasizing the excellent relations between the two entities: “ we have an excellent relationship with Ducati and we will continue to maintain them until the end of the season. If we competed for a World Drivers' Championship last year and we compete in it this year, it's thanks to Ducati who never stopped believing in us by always giving us excellent equipment. What will happen in 2025 is another story, but currently our relationship continues to be excellent and correct on both sides »
He also added on GP One : " At Pramac, we are a family and a family must remain united and strong in its decisions. We should also be happy to continue making different choices. The mechanics and other team members saw an opportunity, a new challenge to get out of a comfort zone. Ultimately, Ducati is that for us. Things are working well and the support is there. Like any comfort zone, when you leave it, you want to start again and do something new that makes you wake up in the morning with a different mentality. Not that things here today run smoothly, but sometimes changes can wake you up »
Gino Borsoi: “ we have nothing left to lose »
Gino Borsoi concluded on a note of optimism: “ winning a world championship is always a huge goal, whether we stay with one manufacturer or not. I hope that the experience gained in 2023 will lead us to continue fighting until the end of the season. We have nothing more to lose. Doing so would be a pleasure and joy to relive some of the sensations of last year and perhaps carry them through the end of the year »
Davide Tardozzi confirmed that Ducati will maintain its support for the Pramac drivers and the team, despite the end of their contract: “ the support that will benefit the drivers who will no longer race with us as well as the Pramac Team between now and the end of the season is clearly stipulated in the contract. They will never have any parts late and will have exactly the same equipment as Bagnaia, with the same developments for the four factory motorcycles »
WDW 2024 will be remembered as a milestone for Pramac et Ducati. As the team prepares for a new chapter with Yamaha , the links and mutual respect between Pramac et Ducati remain strong, promising an exciting end to the season.
