The leader of the Suzuki team is only seven points behind Maverick Viñales for third place in the World Championship, and the two Spaniards should have a good fight on the Ricardo Tormo Circuit to obtain this third position .
Rins comes to this home GP after a difficult weekend at Sepang, where he battled to a solid fifth place. The Spaniard is hoping for a repeat of last year's race in Valencia, where he finished second on the podium.
This year has marked progress towards Álex's goal of constantly fighting with the best riders, and he will be particularly looking forward to finishing the season on a high after celebrating his first MotoGP victories in 2019.
Alex will compete in his 137th Grand Prix in Valencia, after 52 in Moto3 including 8 victories, 36 in Moto2 including 4 victories, and 48 in MotoGP including 2 victories.
Rins often obtained good results in Valencia, except the first year in Moto3 where he only finished sixteenth on Suter–Honda. He then finished third the following year on KTM, then fifth. In Moto2, he finished second and fifth on Kalex in 2015 and 2016. Finally in MotoGP he placed fourth in 2017 and second last year on Suzuki.
This year in qualifying his best place was third on the starting grid at Assen. In racing, he won the Austin and Silverstone Grands Prix.
According to Alex Rins, who are " It's the last race of the year, so I want to do a good job, and it's also a place where I really like to ride, where there are always lots of fans and a good atmosphere! »
“I'm looking forward to it and I hope to finish this positive season in a good way. »
For his team manager Davide Brivio, “Valencia marks the last race of the season, and of course we want to finish this year in the best possible way. Alex has had good results here in the past, so I hope he can repeat it and finish with a good score. »
According to his crew chief Manuel Cazeaux, who are " This track is special, not only because it hosts the final round of the season and it is a time for reflection and celebration, but also because it is where we begin the preparation for 2020 with the post test -race. »
“From a technical point of view, tire consumption is something we have to be very careful about because the track is asymmetrical with more lefts than rights. Turn 13 is very demanding, one of the worst of the year for tire wear and you have to manage fuel consumption carefully. »
“On the other hand, Turn 4 is an easy place to crash because the tire temperature can be low when you get there. It's a real balance. Anti-slip is also crucial in order to best help the driver during acceleration. We are looking forward to the race. »
