MotoGP Great Britain Silverstone J1 Jorge Lorenzo: “I'm in pain, I hope to race on Sunday”

It was a Jorge Lorenzo visibly in difficulty who finished this first day of a British Grand Prix which marked his return to competition. The Honda official had not ridden a MotoGP since Assen at the end of June. His back, bruised by two fractured vertebrae, still handicaps him. Result: he suffers, goes on the track at a barely decent pace and rides with the fear of another fall...

Under these conditions, one may wonder what Jorge Lorenzo already done there. And, also, if he will be able to continue until the end of this meeting at Silverstone… As reported by “Sky Sport”, on the sidelines of free practice, Jorge Lorenzo declared: “ it was a very difficult day for me. After two test sessions, my spine hurts a lot because I pushed a lot. A MotoGP is hard enough for those who are physically fit, even harder for me ».

The Spaniard then continued: “ I lost a lot of muscle and my healing continues. It was a very difficult day for me. I am in the last positions, psychologically, it is difficult to accept. But it's the best I can do given the circumstances ».

Jorge Lorenzo finally concluded: “ the priority is not to fall and to take this race as a training session for the next Grand Prix. I hope to run on Sunday, my back hurts now and I hope to be able to run on Sunday. It will be a very long Grand Prix, but we will try to finish it trying not to fall because a crash in this case would be catastrophic ».
