Marc Marquez

Marc Marquez took full responsibility for his crash during the Silverstone Sprint Race. Despite a promising comeback after the fall of Pecco Bagnaia, the eight-time world champion ended his race prematurely, a strategic choice with the hard front tire having ultimately worked against him.

« It was my mistake. It all adds up, obviously, but I'm always self-critical and I want to think that it's more my fault“Marquez told DAZN. “ It's true that with the front tire, we took a risk. I took this risk, because this weekend is costing us dearly."

The Ducati rider Gresini explained his decision to leave with a hard front tire : " it was the first time we started to get pretty good with the bike. There were still four drivers faster than us. But the goal was this fifth position ; I was getting there, and even a little better."

However, the racing conditions complicated his task: “ when I was left alone, tire temperature started to drop without warning of anything. And in this left turn, braking very early, he lay down in front of me."

Marc Marquez: “ in Germany it was Martin's turn, here it was Bagnaia and me »

Despite this disappointment, Marc Marquez remains positive for the main race: “ the goal will be fifth or sixth position. You see that everyone is falling. Because it goes so fast. When you go fast, either one falls or the other falls. In Germany it was Martin's turn, here it was Bagnaia and me"

The Spanish pilot also spoke of the difficulties encountered during the qualifications : " I thought I still had a lot to do and I didn't want to wear out the front tire any further. On this lap, Bagnaia was a little faster than mine, but not much faster. So I decided to go ahead and prepare the last tire well. But it didn't happen like that."

Marc Marquez recognized his mistake and learned the lessons of this fall Sprint. He will now focus on the main race, with the aim of finishing in the top five.
