MotoGP definitely wants to change its look from next season, not only with the introduction of the Sprint Race, but also with some great new features in the calendar. On the sidelines of Thai GP, Dorna Sports has officially confirmed that the world championship will arrive in India from the 2023 season, on the Buddh international circuit. Before going to Motegi, a Dorna delegation made a stopover in India and met with a potential promoter of the event, Fairstreet Sports, and local authorities, who promised “ all the support needed ».

Once the remaining customs clearance issues are resolved, the MotoGP caravan begins planning for the Indian landing next season. The circuit is located in Greater Noida, near Delhi, in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It was designed by Hermann Tilke, has a length of 5,125 km and hosted Formula 1 from 2011 to 2013. We have a lot of fans in India and we can't wait to introduce them to the sport. India is also a key market for the motorcycle industry and therefore also for MotoGP at large ", highlighted Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna.

The 2023 calendar promises to be a real tour de force and Aragon will not be one of them

After all, India has more than 200 million motorcycles on the roads (more than 70% of vehicles used every day) with more than 1,4 billion inhabitants. A few days ago, the organizers also confirmed the arrival on the calendar of the Kazakhstan GP from 2023, confirming that the two-wheeler market is increasingly focused on emerging Eastern countries.

The official calendar for the 2023 MotoGP season has been released, and it will certainly be a tour de force for the teams, forced to make extreme logistical efforts. There will be a total of 21 Grands Prix since the Aragon meeting is not reported.

Francesco Guidotti, team manager of KTM, jokes in view of what awaits the paddock: “ India or not India is no laughing matter, it will be two and a half months with only two free weekends. Going from one triplet to another is going to be an exhausting few weeks.… There are two new tracks, the Sprint Race, a very intense last third of the season ».
