The Pramac Racing team manager spoke with GP One about the changes awaiting the MotoGP category this season.

With the withdrawal of Marc VDS, the arrival of Yamaha Petronas and the change of Tech3 for KTM, the MotoGP grid will be shaken up this year and is now tending towards a model where satellite teams will have greater importance than before.

This situation is the team's business Pramac Racing who, however, was already experiencing this situation with Ducati. Francesco Guidotti, the team manager, is very satisfied with these changes: “This will be a great battle because what Dorna wants to achieve is for each manufacturer to have a solid satellite structure. We see Tech3 with KTM then the LCR team of Cecchinello for Honda, with two strong riders. A situation of Factory + satellite teams is being set up, and the latter has a different link with the manufacturer which supplies it with new equipment. The regulations were made to try to increase the level of services, so that even the satellite teams could be at the forefront as much as possible. The idea was not to follow the path that was in place before, that is to say that there were the official teams and the teams that it was better to define as clients, more than satellites. Now we can really define them as satellites whereas before it was often not like that. »

Although the MotoGP landscape is transformed, he considers it a good thing for the teams: “This interests the manufacturers themselves because today the level is so high in MotoGP that it helps them to have a team designed to allow them to progress. Yamaha chose Morbidelli and Quartararo, two young riders. This will give them time to progress, and maybe one of them will join the official team. This way, there is no need to look for a driver in another official team. There is also the satisfaction of internally progressing a driver who will then arrive in the official team. For me this is a double advantage. »
