This weekend, the Tech3 team will remain on its French soil for a Grand Prix at home in the sanctuary of Le Mans. A satisfaction for the boss Hervé Poncharal who appreciates the efforts that had to be made to get there. In this sense the organizer has all his considerations while the sporting suspense should be at peak since the dreaded rain will not fail to confuse the cards... All the more reason to get wet!

Organizing a season in the middle of a pandemic was a challenge, but sticking to the calendar the Grand Prix of France in such a context has not been a smooth ride either. In fact, the first words ofHervé Poncharal, boss of the Red Bull KTM Tech3 team before packing his bags for Le Mans are for the organizer: “ Next up for the Red Bull KTM Tech3 team is the French Grand Prix at Le Mans. First of all, I would like to personally thank Claude Michy and his team for having succeeded in organizing a French Grand Prix in these difficult times with the Covid 19 pandemic. It was a very tough fight, but we managed to get this Grand Prix. Congratulations to Claude and his team. The return to Le Mans is going to be exciting for us, but of course we will miss all the spectators there a lot ».

“We haven’t had any wet races this year”

« Unfortunately, I checked the weather forecast and it looks like the whole week will be very, very wet, which is worrying " precise Hervé Poncharal. " So far we haven't had any wet races this year, so it will be interesting to see how the bike performs in these conditions, how we can exploit Michelin's incredibly grippy rain tire and also to see how good Miguel and Iker can be in the wet. We can't wait to see it all. We will try to record as much data as possible and be as competitive as possible ».

« There are always close races at Le Mans and it should be no different this year. We lost contact with the championship leaders by regretting a retirement in Montmeló, but we would still like to fight, score important points in order to have a chance to stay in the top 8 of the ranking and continue to work well with the KTM engineers to develop the RC16 ».

He finishes : " Le Mans will be the first of three consecutive races, so let's try to use this first one as best as possible before moving on to the other. See you all at Le Mans! ».
