After a start to the season marred by incidents, Marc Márquez has resumed its cruising speed since the Austin deadline. By that I mean that he once again puts on victories like others do pearls. He has settled into his favorite place in the title race, first, and if he swears not to look at the statistics, which inevitably drives him into panic, he cannot ignore them. So, if at Jerez he took the scalp of Mike Hailwood at Le Mans this weekend, he could well have the skin of Casey Stoner...
It is the number of victories in the premier category of the Grands that we are talking about here. The Honda official is insatiable. In Spain he brought his harvest of success to 37 and at Le Mans he could raise it to 38, which would put him at the level of a certain Casey Stoner. The teammate of Dani Pedrosa, at 25 years old, has 63 absolute achievements. With his current 37 successes in MotoGP out of 94 starts, his success rate is 39.3%.
Incidentally, from Austin, he joined the exclusive club of drivers who claim to be unbeatable on a particular track. He has six successes in Austin, which puts him on par with the Australians. Doohan et Stoner. Still active, he can think of the series of nine unbeaten visits ofAgostini carried out between 1965 and 1973 on the Imatra route.
