Diogo Moreira achieved his best MotoGP result in Hungary and hopes to continue his momentum in Brno in two weeks.
Diogo Moreira He certainly seems to be taking a significant step forward in his young MotoGP career. While he had already achieved his best Grand Prix last weekend by securing two top-10 finishes, he did even better at the Hungarian GP.
Having made it into Q2 again, he qualified slightly less well, starting 11th compared to eighth at Mugello. However, he delivered two solid races. First, the sprint, which he finished in seventh place, almost six seconds ahead of the first factory Honda rider, Luca Marini.
During the following day's long race, he avoided the chaos of the first corner, despite being positioned right behind Jorge Martín. He managed to recover, finishing seventh, and then overtook Enea Bastianini for sixth place, before losing it to Ai Ogura.
Towards the end of the race, he managed to overtake Jack Miller, crossing the finish line with his best MotoGP result, three seconds behind Marini. After this weekend, Moreira confirms his rise to power and his understanding of the Honda, which he hopes to continue in 15 days in Brno.

“I was behind Martín and I saw him looking at his front tire. He must have released the brake and then he had trouble stopping the bike. It’s a slow corner, so it can happen. I was expecting the red flag, but we raced. These things can happen, it was a shame for the guys [involved].”, he told MotoGP.com.
“The weekend was excellent for us, starting with yesterday’s sprint race, and today I managed to keep up the pace. The race was very long, but I was able to enjoy myself and maintain my rhythm until the end. I think it was really important to finish the race. Unfortunately, I made a bad decision regarding the tire and I felt really bad during the race. But that’s normal, I’m a rookie, so you have to keep going like this. We’re progressing, so in the end, it’s positive.”
"Brno is a beautiful circuit and I think we can do something there, but you never know. I'll be starting from scratch, like every time. I just need to stay calm and try to enjoy the weekend. We'll see."
