Fabio Quartararo Hungary

Fabio Quartararo got off to a good start this time but saw his race compromised by his long lap penalty, in addition to his grip difficulties.

Yesterday in the sprint race, fabio quartararo had not passed the first bend and had fallen, hitting Enea Bastianini at the same time, who had miraculously stayed on his wheels. The Frenchman received a long lap penalty to be completed this Sunday during the main race, which he inevitably approached differently, being more tense at the start.

This time there was no incident and he even managed to overtake, but his penalty, taken on the third lap, cost him two places that he never managed to regain. While he believes he could have done a little better without this long lap, he still believes that Yamaha is not at the level of the other manufacturers, and that no miracle would have been possible anyway.

"To be honest, I wasn't very confident at the start knowing what happened yesterday, so this time I braked too early. Then something happened that made me lose two more places. I was able to overtake Binder and Bagnaia on the first lap, but after the long lap the tires started to lose performance. We know we have no grip compared to the others, I fought like crazy to stay with Pecco, but the distance remained the same, I couldn't be faster.", he said during his debriefing.

"I think I could have finished seventh or eighth, ahead of Binder, but we know very well that the pace is very complicated. We had no grip, we couldn't get out of the corners. Honestly, there's not much to add. We can see that we're still having the same difficulties. We had Pecco in front, so it gave us a bit of motivation to try and catch him, but we couldn't really catch him and overtake. The race was very complicated and I think we're a bit lost.", he added to Canal+.

Quarterly finished tenth in the race, and expects an equally difficult Grand Prix in two weeks in Catalonia, before having a small exit door at Misano, the following weekend.

"We won't have any updates unfortunately, and I think we won't have any until the end of the season. In Barcelona, I think the race will be quite complicated because there is no grip, and in Misano we did some tests on the pace and we were quite good. It was a bit harder on the time attack so qualifying will be complicated but we can be pretty good on the pace."he concluded.
