We no longer present Hubert Trunkenpolz whose name is the T in KTM which says a lot about his place in the Mattighofen company. A position that allows him to express himself as he wishes, which he does willingly when asked about the battle plan being developed for the 2025 season with three new drivers out of four, none of whom respond to the name by Marc Marquez, and for good reason…
In an interview at GP One, Hubert Trunkenpolz lifts the veil on what 2025 will be like within the RC16 battalion, revealing the room for maneuver left to newly recruited pilots: “ we will have 4 drivers who are very fast » he recalls. “ Any of them can be world champion. Our duty is therefore to build a motorcycle that allows them to succeed ».
Then he mentions: “ each of these pilots will be able to choose their own chief technician. We told each of them that when they came to us they could bring someone they trusted. We also told Maverick Viñales that he could bring Cazeaux and that it would be his decision. Everyone will have the same equipment for the first race and it will be like that at least for the first 4 or 5 races. Then the championship will tell us how to go about it. Currently everyone has the same equipment, including Augusto Fernandez who has the same bike as Binder ».
Hubert Trunkenpolz: “ we do MotoGP for business for the media value that it represents »
To the question revealing that among the new recruits, the name of Marc Marquez did not appear despite the common link with a sponsor who would give wings, Hubert Trunkenpolz responds scathingly: “ we never really spoke to Marc Marquez. We have our new Marc Marquez called Pedro Acosta and he is 10 years younger ».
Then he concludes on what MotoGP brings to his company: “ we are very happy with what MotoGP has given us over the years. The fact is that at KTM we are crazy about sport in all its forms, it's our passion. But ultimately we do it for business for the media value that it represents. This value with MotoGP is so high that it completely justifies the investment it represents and the way we participate ". Which has the merit of being frank.
