MotoGP Hungary Day 2, Alex Rins (Yamaha Q20/S16) reveals the behind the scenes: "There is a lot of frustration"

Alex Rins isn't necessarily having a great time in Hungary. Yamaha has been suffering from a serious lack of performance for the past few weeks. And honestly, Rins has been feeling the pinch for a long time now: he's never really been able to find any speed on the Yamaha YZR-M1 since joining the Japanese team in early 2024. The Spaniard's place is not guaranteed, and unfortunately for him, fate did not really help him during the Sprint at Balaton Park...

Indeed, Alex Rins found himself trapped after Enea Bastianini and Johann Zarco collided shortly after the start. He wasn't involved, but it still ruined his sprint. « Luckily I was able to avoid the ruckus, but I was forced to shoot straight ahead. I focused like this because we're struggling this weekend. You can see from the data that we have a lot of vibrations. It's very difficult to stop the bike because of that. I tried to manage it with the rear brake, but apparently it's coming from the rear tire. This is our reality, and there is a lot of frustrationWe have to accept it, that's how it is. he declared.

 

 

Yamaha is making progress, certainly—at least with Quartararo—but Rins still can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. And the promise of the V4 isn't going to make him dream. « Yamaha continues to work on the current bike, we can't sacrifice itIt's true that they're also working hard for next year, but we have to continue working on this model." he continued.

 

 

It's not just the engine, but the entire bike that will change completely. Rins prefers not to get his hopes up. “It’s a completely different bike. Everything changes with a new engine, and they have high hopes. We'll see when it's ready. » he concluded.
