Although he did not have an ideal GP, Alex Márquez believes there is no need to worry and that the results will come back to Barcelona.
For a big first on the Balaton Park circuit, Alex Marquez did not have an ideal Grand Prix. Having struggled more in the last three GPs, the Spaniard never managed to get into the front positions on the Hungarian circuit, and had to settle for 11th place on the grid, which was transformed into 14th position following the penalty he received for impeding Francesco Bagnaia on track on Friday.
Both of his races were shaped by this poor qualifying. He finished eighth yesterday, but had a more difficult race this Sunday, crashing out on the second lap. He started 19th, but was able to climb the rankings thanks to numerous mistakes by his rivals, allowing him to finish 14th and score two points.
Although he cannot explain his fall and is obviously disappointed with his performance, he believes that things will return to normal in Catalonia in two weeks, on home soil, and that he simply needs to work to become more consistent on the tracks that suit him less.
“This weekend wasn’t our weekend, and today, because of the grid penalty, wasn’t our Sunday either. I crashed early in the race and things got really difficult from there. Honestly, I don’t know what happened. I was on the line, I didn’t go wide, but unfortunately I lost the front and fell,” he said during his debriefing.

"It's a weekend to forget, because we made a lot of mistakes and I wasn't at my best. We have to work, because we have to be complete on every track. We knew this circuit was going to make things difficult for us. Now we'll try to start from scratch and think about Barcelona, a circuit that clearly suits my style better."
"I don't think we should panic, given that in Austria we fought for the victory on a track that didn't suit me too well."he recalled. "We just have to start from scratch knowing that things will be better in Barcelona. There's no need to panic, the season is long and there are still plenty of races."
