His name is Idalio Gaviria and he is part of Valentino Rossi's close guard. So much so that he is his eyes on the edge of the track. A strategic position and analytical work which were the prerogative of Luca Cadalora before him. Idalio Gaviria is in fact not unknown on the planet VR46, because until then he was the one who followed the hopes ready to blossom within the academy. Aged 48, he has a background as a pilot. In 1997 he raced in Grand Prix in the 250 class with Aprilia. In 2013, he notably worked with his compatriot Maverick Vinales, who won the Moto3 title that year.

He explains his role thus: “ I am a pilot performance analyst, one who observes it and tries to get the maximum output from his piloting. I go out on the track, I look for areas where it is possible to improve. I look at my driver and the rivals who are doing better at any given moment, I try to understand why they are doing so strong ».

A human observation as important as the data delivered by technology. An approach that Valentino Rossi takes it very seriously judging by the coach's comments: “ I observed his method and adapted.
