We always fear what we don't know and the MotoGP riders showed some reluctance on the Buddh circuit, in India, where the 13th round of the 2023 season is taking place this weekend.
But once there, the story is quite different, with even rare unanimity in praising Indian infrastructure. !
Francis Bagnaia : “I was lucky not to have any problems with visa delays, so that was already a good thing, a first victory. Our logistics manager did an incredible job, so perfect. I had the chance to do two laps, walking laps, and I think the layout of the track is interesting. It's nice and different compared to a lot of other tours, so I think it could be great. I had a tour with the heads of the safety commission, the race management, and they tried to explain everything to me, and I think they have reason to say that it's OK. We will see. I think it will be really interesting to try.”
George Martin : “Yes, for sure, I did a lot of laps as soon as I arrived, I did a few laps with my bike, and yes, I really like the track. I mean it will be really interesting. I'm very excited to go to the track, and I think, like Pecco said, it's a little different than what we're used to. So yes, we are looking forward to the first free practice session tomorrow. »
Marco Bezzecchi : " Yes, I like it. I really like it, to be honest. The paddock is also very well organized. The pit lane is very beautiful, and the track, just walking around, looks fantastic. There is a mix of turns that I really like. Of course the long straight is impressive because I think it's very, very long, maybe longer than Texas, I don't know (just a little shorter than Texas), but it's very nice to see and can't wait to try the bike. There’s also a long right turn into banking, it looks fantastic, so I’m looking forward to it.”
Brad Binder : " Yes it's sure. So far so good. Everything has gone well since I arrived here this morning. Yes, everything is fine, honestly. The track looks pretty cool. I think it's going to be a really fun track for us. Yeah, there's a real turning point in banking, 6 I think, so I'm excited to go there, and yeah, it's exciting to come there this year. »
Alex Espargaro : “Yes, I am very happy to be here. You know, happy to come to a country as big as this. I hope that we can, you know, bring our sport into many, many homes and allow them to have fun. Considering the track, actually, it's going to be a lot of fun. Very funny. I really like the layout and I think they did their best to prepare the circuit for us, so I'm really looking forward to trying it tomorrow. »
fabio quartararo : “Long straights (laughs), but yeah, it looks pretty nice, especially in sectors 3 and 4. Some were a little tight, but we'll see tomorrow, tomorrow morning. But the track looks really nice. »
Augusto Fernandez : "Yeah, looks like we're going to have fun." From the videos, I didn't expect such a slope in the bend. So yeah, it looks cool and I can't wait to try it out. »
Marc Marquez : “Yes, it's one of the circuits where the layout, when walking, looks really nice, but we'll see on a MotoGP. If the grip is good, it will be even better. »
