Championship leader Jorge Martin dominated round 15 of the 2024 MotoGP by winning the Indonesian Grand Prix with a flawless race. After his Sprint Race crash, Martin got his revenge at the Mandalika International Circuit, leading from the start and taking his third ‘feature’ race win of the season. The victory marks his eighth Top Class win and the 18th of his career.
Behind him, the rookie Peter Acosta put in an impressive performance, finishing in second place. Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia completed the podium after struggling in the first half of the race. The two-time MotoGP World Champion finished third, securing his 46th premier class podium and 11th of the season. The result allows him to close the gap in the championship, closing in on 21 points from Jorge Martin, against 24 before this test.
Franco Morbidelli, fourth, delivered a solid performance ahead of Marco Bezzecchi, who took fifth place. Maverick Vinales finished in sixth position, followed by Fabio Quartararo, Brad Binder, and Johann zarco. Raul fernandez completed the top 10 with his Aprilia.
The race was marked by a pile-up triggered by Jack Miller, who sent Luca Marini, Alex Marquez, and Aleix Espargaró on the mat in the first round. Marc Marquez was also forced to retire after breaking the engine of his Ducati, While Fabio Di Giannantonio et Enea Bastianini did not finish the race, the latter falling while in third position.
In the general classification, Martin now leads with 366 points, 21 before bagnaia, 75 before bastianini, and 78 before Marc MarquezThe title fight remains open as the season nears its conclusion.
