Indonesia Fabio Quartararo

It is a particularly indecisive Grand Prix in Indonesia which opens this Saturday with the unexpected improvement of the Yamahas. Because the Monster Energy Yamaha team can congratulate itself on an excellent start to this second round of the season, after having suffered so much at the first, in Qatar. This meeting on the island of Lombok initially offered very complicated conditions due to the rain that fell during the night, a situation which then improved notably in FP2 in the afternoon, with the asphalt already dry but also with intense heat which sometimes exceeded 56º C on the track…

Despite the lead at the end of FP2, Fabio Quartararo Didn't have an easy session. The Frenchman's bike stopped a few minutes after the start of the session, when he had not yet set a time, forcing him to quickly return to the box to immediately hop on his second Yamaha and make the most of his time on track.

Like all his rivals, Fabio waited for his last run of the afternoon to put on the soft rear rubber, achieving a time which placed him first with a best time of 1'31.608s, nevertheless slower by six tenths than the record of Pol Espargaro during the last official test in February.

His teammate Franco Morbidelli confirmed the competitiveness of the M1 on the Mandalika track, finishing just behind Quarterly, rendering only 30 thousandths. A good start is also to be reported for the Ducati satellite rider, Johann zarco, the best of the Borgo Panigale men at the end of Friday with a 1'31.893 which placed him third in the time table, followed by his teammate from PRAMAC Racing, Jorge Martín, fourth, almost three tenths behind the leader in the combined standings.

Everything is possible in this Grand Prix in Indonesia

The winner of the Qatar Grand Prix and championship leader, Enea Bastianini, was also seen among the best. The Gresini team driver placed his Desmosedici GP21 in fifth place (+0,313) but suffered a crash in the final stages of FP2, fortunately without major consequences. Another Ducati, the official GP22 owned by Jack Miller, appears in sixth place in the combined (+0,400), followed by Aleix Espargaró (7th +0,0,400), Brad Binder (8th +0,409), Miguel Oliveira (9th +0,441) and alex rins (10th +0,498).

Friday at Mandalika was a real disaster for the official team Honda. Despite the fact that Pol Espargaro et Marc Márquez occupied the leading trio during FP1 in the morning, in the afternoon they were not able to set a good time. The #44 finished 20th, one second behind fabio quartararo, and Marc Márquez is in 23rd position (+1,239) after being the victim of a very rapid fall at almost 160 km/h at turn 11 at Mandalika while he was improving his times. Pecco Bagnaia is in the depths of the ranking having been stopped in its tracks by two yellow flags…
