Brad Binder Indonesia

Brad Binder achieved his best result of the season in Indonesia and hopes to be back in the lead for good.

Brad Binder Is he really back in the lead? The South African wants to believe it after a solid race last Sunday in Indonesia. While qualifying is still a problem for him, he seemed to have found solutions in the race.

Qualifying in 15th place, after having generally always evolved towards this position in practice, he finished tenth in the sprint race on Saturday before finding something with his team on Sunday morning, which allowed him to make a nice comeback in the race.

Ninth on the first lap, he then remained eighth for much of the race before catching up with his rivals in the last eight laps. Battling with Álex Márquez, Luca Marini and Raúl Fernández, he finally finished fourth, securing his best result of the season. Despite an improvement in the middle of the year, Binder had encountered difficulties again until this Grand Prix. Was it a real turning point or just a combination of circumstances? He himself can't say.

“I’m much happier with how the day went. We made a big change in warm-up and I immediately felt more comfortable with the front. I felt like I was turning better. I could push harder. I’m happy to have moved up and improved my starting position a lot. I’m also happy to be back in the fight. It’s the first time in a while that I’ve been able to improve. It’s definitely a special place, but I really hope this is a turning point for me because I’ve had a really, really, really tough season.”, did he declare.

“It’s good to finish fourth again. It’s great to fight with the guys, but it’s really special here. The grip is very low, the tires are weird. We’ll see when we get back to Europe. I felt more confident on the bike, for sure, but Phillip Island is a completely different story. The track is super fast and flowy. We’ve got the rear casing back, which improves the grip considerably. It’s going to be interesting. But if I get a good feeling like that and can push a little bit, it will make a huge difference.”
