MotoGP Indonesia Day 3, Enea Bastianini (KTM/Ab) retired: "I wouldn't have had a good race anyway"

In Indonesia, Enea Bastianini has just concluded one of his worst weekends of the season, quite simply. It's incomprehensible: unlike Pecco Bagnaia, he seemed to have definitively found the user manual for the KTM RC16, as evidenced by his constant progression and podium finish in Barcelona. And then, for the past few weeks, he's been lost again. Never in the game, he finished this stage in Mandalika with zero points.

Today, he had to retire early in the race due to a mechanical problem. However, he prefers to put things into perspective. « It was difficult for me, starting on Friday.Yesterday the team worked hard to give me the best bike, but something happened during the race today. And that's okay. Now we have to roll up our sleeves to see how we can do better in the future. » he declared for GP One.

 

 

He prefers to remember the positive, and there is some. « Today again, I was good in the fast corners, and I had reduced the gap in the second sector. But on the other hand, we lost something under braking, so quite a few riders overtook me in those phases while on the rest of the circuit, I was strong." he added.

 

 

Yesterday he said he wanted to test the chassis that Pedro Acosta is currently using., the only one who can get the KTM RC16 working lately. “We plan to try it. At the beginning of the year, I couldn't decide on the frame because I lacked confidence on the handlebars.. If I wanted to, I could use it right now, because I am better able to assess it at this stage of the season" he added.
