Fabio Quartararo suffered less than he expected during the Indonesian GP, and was even surprised to finish so close to the podium.
It's been a long time since the four Yamaha riders have been together in the top 10. That's what happened in Indonesia but, unlike usual, it wasn't fabio quartararo who led the Japanese manufacturer's troops. It was his teammate Álex Rins who proved to be the fastest, and this has been the case since the beginning of the weekend. Today he was virtually on the podium for much of the main race before falling down the standings due to his tires.
For its part, Quarterly followed his performance from a little further back, running in sixth or seventh position throughout the 27 laps, but was pleased with it. “Overall, it was a strange weekend. It probably had something to do with this track. Fernandez and Marini went wide and Rins was able to overtake them quickly. He was also strong on Acosta, but in terms of power we were left behind. But the way Alex rode this weekend really struck me, especially because I had a bad feeling while he was very competitive. I'm glad I was able to see where he's improved based on the data.”, did he declare.

The Frenchman managed to save his tires and thus maintained his position in the standings, ultimately finishing as the best Yamaha representative in seventh position and just two seconds off the podium. "It was tough because I had to manage the rear a lot and I wasn't able to overtake anyone, especially because they were pulling away on the exit of the corner. Despite that, I drove well and was smart in managing the rear. I didn't expect to be so close to the podium.", he added.
Now we head to Australia, where the MotoGP will be held in 15 days. "I'm curious to see how Rins, Miller and Oliveira will ride in Australia and Malaysia, because here I had to choose the hard front tyre, which no one had taken, and the soft one on the rear, and only a few riders rode with it, and it's weird. Anyway, I rode pretty well, even if the weekend wasn't optimal."he concluded.
