Franco Morbidelli had one of his worst GPs of the season in Indonesia, but he believes the Ducati struggled on this track, except at Gresini.
Franco Morbidelli had a difficult Grand Prix in Indonesia before managing to right the ship in the race. Only 13th on the grid, it was his worst qualifying of the season, but he moved up to seventh place in the sprint race on Saturday, not without provoking the anger of his teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio.
On Sunday, he got off to a good start and started the second lap in ninth place before making a mistake that could have cost him dearly, and found himself in 11th place. He remained in this position until ten laps from the finish, when he began to move up. Finally, the Italian crossed the finish line in eighth place.
While these results are among his worst this year, he prefers to focus on the positives, considering that the Ducati has been struggling all weekend. However, it is the GP25, since the two Gresini riders Fermín Aldeguer and Álex Márquez, who ride the GP24 as Morbidely, have been very successful.
"It was a very difficult weekend, we struggled throughout with less than optimal sensations. But I'm satisfied with the positions we achieved yesterday and today, because we finished both races and collected points. Despite the difficulties, we managed to secure two places in the top 10, which is positive. The team did an excellent job once again.", did he declare.
“At the beginning of the race, I took a big risk at Turn 13. I'm happy I managed not to crash, but it cost me time and I lost places. Towards the end, I was faster than the group I was in, but overtaking was difficult. Except for the Gresini riders, all the Ducati riders struggled this weekend, so I can be satisfied.”
“I would like to thank the Indonesian fans who came to support us. They are so passionate, it's great to see how much they love racing.”
