• The 18th round of the FIM World Championship MotoGP ™ 2025 was held at the Mandalika Circuit (Indonesia) on superheated ground reaching 60°C.
• Michelin Motorsport teams had planned specific tire ranges for this extreme situation, and for all driving styles. All five available specifications were used during the Grand Prix!
• Several records were broken, including the absolute lap record set by Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) in 1'28.832.

The Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit is one of the newer MotoGP venues, having been inaugurated in 2021 and hosting the sport since 2022. This was the fourth time that Michelin and its partners had visited the island of Lombok, a neighbor of Bali, to meet Indonesian fans, who came in large numbers - more than 140,000 people over the three days of track activities.

Over the course of the time references established at Mandalika, improvements have been observed from year to year, and the 2025 vintage followed the same trend, despite particularly difficult conditions. Between a very dirty track on Friday, ground temperatures that reached the 60°C -50°C mark in the morning - the drivers and their machines were put to the test throughout the weekend. To compensate for these heat phenomena and respond to the configuration of the track, Michelin Motorsport had prepared specific tires, including rear tires with a reinforced casing.

« Increasing the stiffness of the rear tire was the right decision »Indicates Piero Taramasso, manager of the Michelin two-wheel competition. “ Admittedly, with the Medium compound the tire took a little longer to reach its peak performance, but it then guaranteed great stability, without ever weakening under the effort. The Soft rear tire, meanwhile, offered a very rapid revving, allowing you to start chasing the time from the first corners. For the Tissot Sprint, it was also chosen by all the drivers, who unanimously praised the consistency of its performance throughout the 13 laps. We were also able to note that the duration of this first race of the weekend was improved, despite the trying temperatures.

The next day, we experienced an unprecedented situation, which had not occurred since 2023 right here in Mandalika, with the five rubber compounds available on the grid! A sign that the performance spectrum of our tires was relevant, and that each driver was able to refine their choice according to their strategy and driving style. These results are the fruit of the work of our teams, which allows our partners to always go further in performance, and which once again highlights the quality of our tires.

For the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, the FIM MotoGP World Championship teams had three symmetrical compounds (Soft, Medium, and Hard) at their disposal for the front wheel. At the rear, they could choose between two asymmetrical compounds (Soft or Medium) with a reinforced right shoulder. This choice is explained by the layout of the circuit, which features eleven right-hand turns and six left-hand turns, for a length of 4,301 km, including a short straight of 507 m.
