Miguel Oliveira scored a surprise victory in the second round of the 2022 MotoGP, winning at Mandalika ahead of Frenchmen Fabio Quartararo and Johann Zarco. A success achieved in difficult conditions, while the start of the race was delayed by more than an hour due to a storm which dragged on.

Andrea Dovizioso, for his part, experienced a difficult ordeal, which he was unable to complete. The Italian driver spoke to journalists about his performance afterwards. We transcribe his entire remarks here.

Andrea, you had a difficult race this Sunday in Mandalika…
« I'm disappointed because as soon as I got on the bike the dashboard didn't work. I couldn't see anything. I had no indication regarding launch control, speeds, engine mapping. So I rode blind, at the back of the peloton, but I still managed to gain a few positions. It's disappointing because I had rather good feelings on the bike. However, I had problems with the grip on the left side. It's a real shame because I really had the bike in good control, and therefore with a better position on the grid and normal racing conditions I could have delivered a good performance. This is what Fabio Quartararo managed to do, and I congratulate him for it. I'm really disappointed to have done this type of race, but what do you expect, it's all linked to an electronic problem. »

Without this electronic problem, what result do you think you could have decently aimed for?
« I don't really know because my problems showed up from the start, where I couldn't use the launch control, and afterwards I had no grip on the left side, so it's really difficult to say. It was difficult to ride normally, but I still had a good feeling on the bike. »

How were the track conditions?
« It was of course limited, especially when you were in the peloton, because the visibility was not good, but the track itself was in decent condition if we put aside all the small stones that were flying everywhere. »
