The 2016 MotoGP season was marked by nine different winners, contested races and weather conditions which played a major role in the suspenseful events that we loved. A dynamic which had its slightly less exciting corollary: falls. And this year has not been short of accidents. The elite were even well served during a vintage which consecrated a new single manufacturer.

The 2016 campaign, it was private riders who won, a Ducati factory double winner, a Márquez titled for the fifth time in his career, the return of Michelin and… A total of 1 062 falls. A sum obtained by adding the three categories which are Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP. For the latter, we regret 288 opportunities to violently encounter the asphalt that the pilots would have liked to avoid. Last year, there were 215.

A year ago, there were 976 falls out of the 18 Grands Prix completed. In 2016, the average was 54 gadins per meeting. But there were some more painful than others. The prize goes to Phillip Island and its 90 falls while Germany and Japan follow by staying in the range of 80. Assen is satisfied with 79 while it was better to be at Mugello or compete in the Austrian Grand Prix to have more chances of stay on your wheels. The two events only had 34 falls.

Finally, we will remember that the weather was terrible in Australia, Holland, Germany, Great Britain and the Czech Republic. There is also Michelin which has developed. 2017 should therefore be more lenient for leathers.
