Bagnaia Italy Ducati

The official Ducati Bagnaia is often designated as the favorite for an Italian Grand Prix which would thus open his MotoGP victory counter. If there is one place where an Italian on an Italian machine needs to make it happen, it is Mugello, a track that the Borgo Panigale brand has dominated since 2017. But Pecco, second in the championship one point behind the leader, has teammates as well armed as him while underestimating the Yamaha would be a mistake...

Factory Ducati arrives on its test track Mugello crowned with two consecutive victories, a consistency with the same driver that she had not experienced for a certain Jorge Lorenzo, 3 years ago. The timing is good, as also evidenced by the seven podiums in MotoGP won by the troops of Gigi Dall'Igna since the start of the season. Mugello is the track where the super Desmo Ducati has monopolized victory in the last three editions. Dovizioso-Lorenzo-Petrucci have followed one another on the highest step of the podium since 2017.

But it is also true that Qatar, a track considered as a stronghold Ducati, it is finally Yamaha who won. Mugello is not just the long start-finish straight, but an exciting series of fast and slow corners, with furious braking and a definite drop in altitude. The Desmosedici will therefore have to be careful with the M1s.

A first in red for Bagnaia

Francis Bagnaia after finishing the Grand Prix of France in fourth position after a solid performance is looking forward to hitting the track at Mugello, his home race and that of Ducati. The Turin driver, second in the general classification, one point behind leader Fabio Quartararo, is delighted to resume racing on the Tuscan track, after withdrawing from the calendar last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

« The Italian Grand Prix is our home race and it takes place at Mugello, one of my favorite circuits! » declares the teammate of a Jack Miller who has just signed the renewal of his lease in red until 2022. “ It will be the first time that I will be on this track with the official colors of the Ducati Lenovo Team and that motivates me even more. During the last races, my feeling with the GP Desmosedici has always been excellent and Mugello is a circuit which lends itself very well to the technical characteristics of our bike. We'll see how this weekend goes, but I am determined and confident to be able to have a good race » concludes the Italian who would like to be the worthy transalpine successor of Dovizioso and Petrucci in Tuscany.
