Jack Miller did not have the opportunity in this Italian Grand Prix to win for the third time in a row on a Ducati. A regularity which would have put him on par in the statistics with his illustrious compatriot Casey Stoner. On paper, he had the bike for it, but the Mugello track defied the predictions which tipped the scales towards the GP21. The Australian had to resign himself to a sixth place which, however, brought him closer to his teammate Bagnaia in the championship, the same one who retired after a fall. The latter did not want the competition to take place due to the death of Jason Dupasquier. Miller does not share this sentiment…

Jack Miller did not experience the Italian Grand Prix that he dreamed of. And he explains why: “ I did my best. The wind was very disturbing, I had problems with it. So I slowed down and saw what I needed to change. I was able to find my rhythm again afterwards ". Yes, but… " I then lost my flow a bit. The race was very fast, the guys were strong. I had to change my driving style a little. My main goal then was to come home with points. I was in 6th place and very happy. I've only been able to finish one MotoGP race here at Mugello in five years and I wanted to see the checkered flag again ».

Miller: “he’s a son, a brother. I also see a lot of myself in Jason”

His race explained, Jack Miller looks back on his sensitive environment which divided the MotoGP riders into two camps: those who wanted to race and the others who did not want to due to the death of Jason dupasquier. The Australian chose his side: “ I feel as you can imagine. It was terrible, a tragedy. A young boy was killed. He must have left way too soon. He's a son, a brother. I also see a lot of myself in Jason. He showed great speed in Moto3 this year. It's terrible! All you can say is he died doing what he loved. My condolences go to his family. It must be terrible for a mother and father, no one wants that. We hate to see something like this ».

The Australian admits: “ I feel really bad. We had dinner with the team Saturday evening. I then asked everyone to turn off the screens. The images were shown several times. There should be no access to this television material. But that’s how it is in the world we live in. Jason was a pilot. I'm sure he would have wanted the race to take place. The minute of silence was very moving ».
