Zarco Italy

Johann Zarco can be satisfied with his Italian Grand Prix. He brought back from a Mugello track which has not often succeeded in MotoGP a solid result synonymous with big points to add to his capital in the championship. A title race where he appears second to his compatriot Quartararo who has 24 points more. The double Moto2 World Champion also asserts himself this evening as the best Ducati rider in the general classification. And listening to him, the best is yet to come…

Johann zarco saved the house Ducati in this Italian Grand Prix which he was told was his garden for a walk home. Instead of that, bagnaia fell and Miller was unable to reach the top 5. Fortunately, there was a Frenchman placed in the Pramac team who did the job.

It took Johann zarco of self-sacrifice and success, because everything could have stopped even before departure, when a bastianini stunned hit him during the grid, damaging his GP21. But more fear than harm... The rest is told by the pilot:

« A lot happened in this race. Even before the start Bastianini hit me. At this point we are all accelerating and braking to keep the tires and brakes warm for the start. The important thing is that it is not done badly. I was afraid that my motorcycle had suffered damage. I looked at my saddle and left like that.

My start wasn't great, but I was able to hold my position. Pecco Bagnaia fell in the second round, and the objective was not to let Fabio go. I was quite comfortable with the new tires, and the strategy of passing Fabio on the straight and keeping him behind worked at the start. But he fought well and also began to pass me earlier and earlier to manage to have enough of a gap so that I no longer went back in a straight line.

He did it very well, a bit like in Qatar where it was the same strategy. I was good but I was missing something because the bike was moving a lot. It cost me a lot of energy. I could perhaps have held Fabio by taking more risks at the front, but also with the risk of falling. It's a feeling that I don't have yet and I didn't want to fall. I wasn't in the perfect position coming out of each corner.

But I resisted. When we started overtaking with Oliveira, it was pretty good but when it was with Mir, I lacked a lot of energy. I was able to make an effort three laps from the end, with good times, but when I wanted to catch my breath a little, they took off again. I would have liked to make the podium but I was a little short on energy.

Zarco: “There is definitely a way to become stronger”

He analyses : " second in the championship is very good, 13 points is also very good. On the podiums we collect a lot of points like Fabio who takes 25, which is important for his championship. But I, in difficulties, 13 points I am rather happy. Mugello is a circuit where I often had difficulties in MotoGP, that's why being close to the podium and futures fourth is a great satisfaction.

We have to keep working because the bike has exceptional potential. I could see him behind Fabio. We have different bikes but there are certain things that if I understand them well and take them automatically into my riding there is really a way to become stronger ". Next step, Barcelona, starting next weekend.
