Petronas Italy

It is in a special atmosphere from all points of view that the Petronas drivers approach what is their big national meeting at Mugello. Morbidelli and Rossi are thus preparing for their Italian Grand Prix at a time when the first mentioned is wondering about the state of his knee bruised at Le Mans but injured since training at the Ranch, while the second must decide on his future as well as that of its troops who will be engaged in MotoGP… With possibly Ducati in the box but also possibly Yamaha, in fact, taken from Petronas…

To these elements, we will add empty stands which will further weigh down the atmosphere. The fifth round of the season at Le Mans was short on satisfaction for the team Petronas, with Franco Morbidelli who quickly found himself in the gravel due to contact during racing and with Valentino Rossi who only crossed the line in eleventh position. All these beautiful people hope for better from Mugello and this Italian Grand Prix.

In France, Morbidely also had a physical problem, linked to a knee that perhaps we should operate… “ I hope to arrive at Mugello this weekend in the best possible shape, after undergoing some knee treatment. I love Mugello. It's a fantastic track, full of history and I have great memories » says the Italian-Brazilian who does not hide his concerns about his state of form.

The Tuscan track is full of emotion for the 2020 world vice-champion who admits: “ the feeling I have at Mugello is slightly different from the one I have on the other tracks. It's great to be back racing there after last year's absence, but it won't be right because we won't have fans ". On the objectives, the pilot Petronas Yamaha commented : " I don't know what to expect, but I'm looking forward to it and I hope our bike continues to run well ».

Petronas and Rossi hope to see effects of Jerez test

As for Valentino Rossi, we remain stuck on the hopes glimpsed after the test MotoGP from Jerez: “ at Le Mans I felt better with the bike, it's a shame to have had a race with mixed conditions. We hope that the weather will be more consistent this weekend in Mugello and that we will be able to confirm Jere's test improvementsz ».

The Tuscan track has seen him triumph on several occasions and the Italian admits: “ It’s a fantastic track and luckily I have a lot of good memories there. It's always special, so I'm looking forward to racing, even if it's a shame not to have the fans. They are always fantastic and give us a lot of support. It's always nice to see them in the stands ". But that won't be the case this time.
